the day begins

Our story

Built as our family’s escape.
Kept that way for yours.

La Estancia began in 2016 as the family’s own getaway: a stretch of private estate where the mangroves meet the reef, too good not to share. It grew into a boutique resort the slow way, room by room, without ever losing the feeling of arriving at a friend’s house.

The family still runs the place day to day. That is why breakfast finds you wherever you are, why the boatmen know the reefs by memory, and why guests keep writing the same four words: like visiting family.

The table

Dinner is wherever
you are.

There is a dining room, but nobody insists on it. Your table can be the veranda outside your casita, the long table under the trees, or the gazebo at the end of the pier, with the tide moving under your feet.

The kitchen cooks the family’s own recipes: kinilaw cured to order, the day’s catch grilled over coconut husk, mangoes that never saw a refrigerator.

From first light

A day at the estancia

Before six

The bay turns silver

Sunrise comes up over the water in front of every room. Coffee arrives wherever you happen to be standing.

Morning

Glass water

Kayak the mangrove river while it is still cool and perfectly still. The boats are always ready; no sign-up sheet.

Midday

Long lunch, long shade

Home-cooked Filipino food under the trees, then the pool, then a nap you did not plan.

Golden hour

Up the ridge

The hilltop barbecue, or simply a cold drink on your balcony. The bay does the rest of the work.

After dark

Dinner under stars

A table in the gazebo over the water, lanterns lit, the tide moving quietly underneath your feet.

Another day in paradise. The staff are incredibly genuine; by the second morning it felt like visiting family.

Service beyond compare. They served our meals wherever we wanted them: on the veranda, or in the gazebo over the water.

Quiet, private, with stunning views in every direction. The outdoor jacuzzi looking over the sea is something else.
